Sundarban Travel at a glance
Sundarban is most nearest place of Kolkata. Most of travellers like to spend few days in Sundarban for take a green breath. It is Mangrove delta forest, comprises with about 4000 sq km in India portion.
Best route to go Sundarban :
By Train : You can start your journey by Canning local train from Sealdah south. Canning is end station from where you need to take other vehicle to reach the Godkhali (Gateway of Sundarban).
Train Fare : From Sealdah Rs. 15 only per head.
By Bus : From Baruipur or Babughat you can take Bus for Godkhali.
By Auto : From Canning Station you can avail Auto for Sonakhali by sharing basis, from there (Sonakhali) another auto for Godkhali. Even you can take reserve Auto from Canning Station to Godkhali. Price range for Reserve Auto : Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 per Auto.
By Tracker or Magic Car : From Canning Station you can take Magic car / Tracker (Sharing basis) for Rs. 20/- per head only for Godkhali.
If you are planning to go by driving your own car, you can do so. From Science city there are two ways, i) Baruipur-Canning Road ii) Basanti High Way, set GPS map to Godkhali ferry ghat and reach there by 3 hrs ride.
Car Parking : There is secure car Parking available. Preferrably you can choose "Sundarban Car Parking" Rate : Rs. 150/- per car per night, Contact Name : Kalyan, Ph No. : 9733702902
Godkhali Ferry Ghat: This is the gate way of your Sundarban Travel if you are not pre-booked your boat you can choose it from here. Price range for boat fare Rs. 4500 to Rs. 6000/- per day basis. If you traveling singly then it may be bit of costly, there is another way to curtle the charge of boat fare by going directly to Pakhirala, take a sharing ferry service for Gosaba, and from there you can take pvt toto or Auto for Pakhirala for Rs. 300. Now you need to merge in a group for jungle ride, although best time to start the boat ride is within 9 am from Pakhirla. If you are not very familiar to contact any boat, you can talk with the Hotel manager to arrange a sharing boat. They are very helpful.
If you don't have that time to start the journey for Jungle ride, you can stay the first day by seeing some local sight seeing like Kabiguru Bungalow, Hamilton Bungalow at Gosaba site, and by before evening take country side small boat for Bird's island. During winter seasons you can be amazed by seeing lots of migrated birds there.
